Birgitta Ibert, my breeding partner on Iceland, found Vaka in October 06 when looking for good Isar offspring in Iceland. She decided to share her with me and I am truly grateful for that. Vaka is a buckskin two years old mare that will be kept on Iceland together with our other breeding mares Hrund and Glod and take care of by Kristin and her husband at their farm at Kirkjubæ. Vaka’s father is Isar fra Keldudal, the highest judged six year old stallion outside Iceland and on top of the breeding list for young stallions. He truly is a lovely horse, very willing but with a sweet character, great gaites and very strong pedigree on both sides. Isar is out of Ísold fra Keldudal following a long line of remarkable breeding mares including both Hrund fra Keldudal and Nös fra Stokkhólma. Isold is after Hrafn fra Holtsmúla and received honours award for her offspring at Landsmot this year (2006). The first five offspring of her daughter Hrund all received first prize. Isold's grandmother Nös have given birth to eight (!) 1. prize winning offspring, becoming a breeding legend on Iceland. Isar's father Keilir fra Miðsitju is out of Krafla fra Sauðárkróki under Ófeigur fra Flugumýri and he won the Sleipnir cup at this years Landsmot (2006), topping the stallions breeding list. Behind Keilir we find a long list of excellent stallions; Ófeigur fra Flugumýri, Kolskeggur fra Flugumýri, Gustur fra Sauðárkróki and Sörli fra Sauðárkróki to mention a few, as well as the honours award winning breeding mares; Krafla fra Sauðárkróki, Perla fra Reykjum, Fluga fra Sauðárkróki and Síða fra Sauðárkróki.
Vaka’s mother is the 9 years old mare Olga fra Ríp that has not been presented and so far she has only produced two offspring so she has not proven herself as a breeding mare yet. Her father Þyrill fra Aðalbóli, received a good 1. prize (8.23) at Húnaveri in 1994 showing impressive riding qualities (8.54). Both his parents have received 1. prize; his father Gassi fra Vorsabæ II is son of the famous Hrafn fra Holtsmúla and his mother, Freisting fra Bárðartjörn has the famous Sörli fra Sauðárkróki as her grandfather.
Olaga’s mother Kolfinna fra Ríp is a black 2. prize winning beauty after the breeding matador Hrafn fra Holtsmúla.
So with Sörli and Hravn so frequently represented on both sides in her pedigree, we have great expectations for our Vaka
