News summer 2007
0.08.07: Daniel Jonsson showed Gasella yesterday and she received 1
prize! Overview is later today with room for some
improvements (hopefully tölt and galopp), so I will have to come back
with the final score-confirmation 8.03 stands.
Gasella is 7 but lacks quite a bit mussles still to follow up on her
strong will and great talent and we will probably train her
for another year with the goal to qualify and do well on Landsmot.
Gnipa will be shown by Siggi Matt coming Monday and she is our last
horse to be shown this year.
The two stallion prospects Hugur and Ljomi will be started by Vignir and
Johanna in Sweden
the coming month and the 3 yrs old mares Garun, Platina and Thula will
be started by Elli and Vidja at
Langholt next month. I do look forward to follow their progress
and visit when the horses are under rider.
27.08.07: Some pictures of my Isar daugther Visa frĺn Sundsberg back
after her "summer vaccation". She has become a
beautiful young lady reminding me a lot of her mother, Birgittas superb
1 pr breeding mare Vaka fra Österĺker. Her pedigree
is excellent and we do look forward to start her in a years time.

Langholt to be started by Elli and Vidja in the nearest future. Hannes
will follow them closely
as well and hopefull I will be able to visit Iceland in October to see
how they are doing.

Hrafnkelsstöđum after Keilir is taken very well care of
by Kristin and Brandur.
She has developed into a beautiful 1 yrs old and she moves like a

01.08.07. 10 days of swimming combined with intensive training by Siggi
Matt has done Gnipa well. She has lost her extra pounds
and become more willing, endurant and positive. Gnipa will be shown late
August.

18.07.07. Vaka fra Osteraker qualified for the world championship in
Holland and Vignir will show her. Vaka is Birgitta Iberts
beautiful breeding mare after Mokkur and Von and mother of my Visa fra
Sundsberg (after Isar). The best of luck for Vaka at VC!

01.07.07. Gnipa is pregnant with Stali fra Kjarri and Fasta is pregnant
with Sćr fra Bakkeroti! Gnipa will join Hannes and Inga on
a couple of longer riding trips during the summer and then further
trained to be shown in August. Fasta is going back up north to Hofi
one of the first days.
23.06.07. Some photos of Garun (3) and Hartid fra Saudakroki (2), our
two very promising young mares.Garun will be started by Elli
and Vidja this autumn and then put into training again in January next
year.

21.06.07. Vakning is taking a well deserved rest out in the green field
after a period of intensive training.

19.06.07. Hrund's stallionfoal after Vilmundur fra Feti died suddenly
and unexpectedly, only a few days old. The veterinary found no
obvious reason for his tragic death, and he seeemed healthy and in good
spirit until he suddenly were found dead. Holmfridur and
Magnus at Blesastadir followed both mother and foal closely so this is
just one of these few tragic early deaths-that we also se among
people. I had great expectations for this little boy with a very strong
pedigree but Hrund is now with Krakur and hopefully she will get
a foal after him next year -a most intersting combination!

18.06.07. Our Vakning fra Asi qualified to Fjórdungsmót on
Saturday's competition, A-flokk with Raggi in the sadle!
Congratulations!
Thus the first goal towards qualifying for A-flokk at Landsmot next year
is reached. Vakining is a 1 pr. mare after Galsi fra Saudakroki
under the honours award winning mare Vaka fra Asi (also mother of many
famous competition horses on Iceland).

16.06.07. Hrund got a yellow dun stallion foal yesterday, 15.06.07. Both
mother and child are fine and "father" is very proud. Both mother and
father
(Vilmundur) are very talented 5-gaiters, with a very positive and strong
willingness and the pedigree on both sides is also very strong (BLUP
125), so
it will be particularely interesting to follow this youngster in the
future. Picture of him will follow shortly.
15.06.07. Great news from the breeding show at Sörlastöđum! Elli rode
Sara to 1 price, 8.08 (8.31, 7.92), and she got 8.5 for tölt and
will/character
and still she has a lot more to go on riding wise. I saw that with my
own eyes when I visited Langholt in May-amazing horse! We will
keep her in training
by Elli and Vidja for another year aiming at the six years class at
Landsmot next year. Thanks to Hannes, Inga, Elli and Bidja for doing such
a great job with her!
Our 4 year old Selma fra Saudakroki also did great in this show,
receiving 2 price as a 4-gaiter 7.84 (8.02,7.72). She has plenty of pace
like her father Odur,
but she is just not ready to show it yet. Selma will also be trained for
another year, aiming at the five yrs class at Landsmot 08. Thanks to
Hannes and Inga, Gunnar
and Siggi Matt for their very dedicated and skilled work with her,
having an old knee injury, made us have to think alternatively and take
special care in
training and prepering her. I do think some swimming helped her a lot,
enabeling her to absorb the amount of training that is necessary to
obtain such high
riding scores. Both Sara and Selma seem to be particularely talented
horses that could improve their performance quite a bit with another
year of training-if they
both avoid injuries and keep healthy. I do hope to se them both at
Landsmot next year.

NEW HORSE. Garun fra Saudakroki
IS2004257001. When I started breeding Icelandic horses
in October last year, I did a thorrow research
on World Fengur and also asking around to find the "ultimate" breeding
mare from which I would persue to get an offspring for my own breeding.
I fell in love with Gnott from Saudakroki, an exceptional breeding mare
and mother of among others Galsi and Glymur fra Saudakroki.
Obviously
she was a very strong breeder with exceptional genetic stability. She is
also one of the very few horses with 9.5 for neck/winters/ shoulders; a
quality
that is rare and very important also riding wise...My eyes fell on Garun
fra Saudakroki after the yet unproven -but very talented and beautiful
Orri son
Gári frá Auđsholtshjáleigu with
the highest confirmation score on Iceland ever, 8.87.
But of coarse she was definately not
for sale! But thanks to Hannes
we did eventually get the opportunity to buy in on Garun-sharing her
with Gudmundur and Sveinn, breeding on her every second year.
We will take care
of the further preparation and Elli and Vidja will train her aiming for
the 4'th year class at Landsmot next year...Pictures and pedigree will
follow shortly.
Pedigrees do not come any stronger in my opinion; Garun is under Gnott
that is a honours award winning breeding mare with five 1pr offspring;
She is
after Hervar and her mother being the famous Hrefna fra Saudakroki after
Sörli and Fluga....Garuns father is the Orri son Gári frá
Auđsholtshjáleigu and
his mother is daugther of the famous
Angi frá Laugarvatnison and
celebrarted breeding mare Limra frá
Laugarvatni with honours award and six 1 pr offspring.
Thanks to Hannes,Gudmundur and Sveinn for sharing this talented
youngster with me. We will se to it that she gets the best possible
training at Langhold and
every possibility to prove herself. I do look forward to follow her a
lot and it now looks like Saudkrokir will constitute the core of our
breeding on Iceland.

12.06.07. Sara was shown by Elli yesterday evening and what a blast! She
got stunning 8.31 for conformation with rooms for improvements...
and 8.5 for tölt and form under rider. Hopefully she can improve her
pace and trot on the overview and go directly into 1 class....She will
be
trained by Elli and Vidja the next year in order for her to participate
in next years Landsmot. She has a lovely positive willingness and
character
and we will see more of her I am pretty sure. Picture: Elli showing
Selma in tölt, taken by Hannes
11.06.07. Selma was shown by Siggi Matt on Friday and did great. She got
1 pr (8.02) for conformation with 8.5 for head and hooves
and otherwise good and even scores with room for improvements next year.
As to riding she is only four and although truely talented
with a great positive willingness she is not strong enough to carry
everything through just yet-so we decided to wait with pace on the
overview
-I will come back with her final scores when the last runs are done. We
will definately train her for another year and hopefully she will
participate
at Landsmot next year and both Siggi and Hannes believe strongly in
her.Below, Selma second from the right during final preparation on
Thursday
before presentation the next day. Photo: Hannes

09.06.07. Hannes just collected Fasta form Sćr fra Bakkeroti-so
hopefully she is pregnant. She is beautiful.

Hafnarfjördur. Because of an old knee injury
and her young age (4 yrs) she has been taken swimming during this last
intensive training period. . Photo: Hannes
