News spring 2007
30.05.07. GNIPA is back from Stali fra Kjarri and we will know if she is
pregnant taking a sonograph June 7'th. She is in training again, Hannes
is riding her 5-6 times a
week. She still lacks a bit willingness and is a bit fat. Elli will show
her later this summer. SELMA is in training by Siggi Matt to be shown
June 11'th. She is only 4 and
still strougles with an old knee injury and thus she is taken to
swimming a few laps every day while in intensive training. SARA has not
been ridden the last 2-3
weeks because of a bite on her back that needed healing. She is also
taken swimming while Elli is buisy with showing horses at Helle.
Hopefully, Elli will show her
June 12'th. She is a very talented youngster that we expect a lot from
in the future! GASELLA that Hannes bought last summer has been in
training at Langholt and
will be shown by Elli next week, she is a five gaiter and has developed
well. FASTA is still by Sćr fra Bakkeroti and will be collected by
Hannes one of the first
days-then we have to wait 14 days to see if she is pregnant, meanwhile
staying in Hannes Stable in Reykjavik, then returning to Hofi up north.
HRUND and GLOD
are solemates...and both very pregnant -expecting foals after
resp.Vilmundur and Krakur. They are both taken to Blesastadir to Krakur
when the first foal arrive. We
saw a number of very nice looking, great moving, offspring after Krakur
when we were visiting Magnus and Holmfridur in early May! ALABORG looked
great when I
visited her at Fet in May and was pregnant with Frakki fra Feti. Her
latest foal was very good looking! so I have no dought that she
is a supreme breeding mare in
addition to being a very strong individual. Isafold (mother) and Orri
(father) have produced a number of famous offspring and there is a lot
to look forward to in the near
future! My two other orri daugthers (PLATINA and THULA) are taken
to Langholt to be started in September/October and my two stallion
prospects (LJOMI and
HUGUR) will be started by Vignir (in Sweden) also this coming autumn so
a lot is happening in the mid term perspective as well. A special thanks
to Hannes and Inga
that do such an excellent job with our horses on Iceland and Märtha,
Birgitta and Rune that do the same in Sweden! And Gunnar, Siggi, Elli
and Vidja have done a great
job in training our horses in order to be able to bring forward their
true potential. It is a long way from researching pedigrees, spotting
youngsters, looking at family members
until they are ready to be shown and subsequently being put into
breeding, involving a lot of people with various skills and expertice
and every person and every detail is
as important, as also Brynjar demonstrated to me at Fet. That is why we
are also putting a lot of emphasis into finding and developing a core of
really good breeding mares
with extreme qualities to have the best possible starting point for our
breeding.
18.05.07. May 17'th, our National day in Norway is celebrated and all
two- and four legged are happy. Fasta is at Armot to be served by Sćr
fra Bakkeroti
and Hannes just brought Gnipa to Kjarr to be served by Stali fra Kjarri
after having been sonographed. Hopefully both will become pregnant.
Fasta will then
be brought back to Eline and Jon at Hofi and Gnipa continue her training
to be presented by Elli in August. Sara is still in training by Elli and
Vidja.

07.05.07. Back from a very interesting week at Iceland where i visited
my horses and met with a lot of horse people. Thank you for intersting
discussions
and great hospitality. The first part I spent with some breeding friends
from Sweden (Birgitta and Rune Ibert and Anna Pers). We arrived Friday
April 27
and drove straight up north to visit Jon and Eline at Hofi. I share
their beautiful 1 prize mare Fasta fra Hofi with them and she looked
great. We had a very
nice time at Hofi.Fasta is taking an ultrasound and when she in heat she
will be transported to Sćr fra Bakkeroti in beginning of May.

Eline with the farm in the background
Fasta in the front
Saturday April 28 we spent the morning at Hofi, and thereafter drove to
Holar and subsquently visited Mette Manseth and Gisli. They had a lot of
very

Mette riding a beautiful Hrodur daugther
good horses, many of which was after their stallion Hrodur. He obviously
is a strong breeder because the offspring all looked great!
In the afternoon we drove to Aukreri to visit Sandra Marin and Raggi and
my 1 prize mare Vakning fra Asi which they have in training in order to
compete
on her and hopefully qualify for Landsmot next year (A-flokk). This is a
strong pace horse (after Galsi fra Saudakroki and legendary Vaka fra
Asi) which

Raggi riding Vakning
Raggi and Vakning, May 07
also have a very good tölt and she did look softer and had better under
rider-than after to many straight forward pacing...
We then went to Keldudal for dinner and stayed the night there. Very
nice people and great hospitality. This is the farm where Birgitta and
Rune
bought their now famous stallion Isar fra Keldudal a few years ago. From
Keldudal we drove all the way back to Reykjavik again and then
further
past Selfoss and Vik to Kirkjubćrkloster far east to Kristin and Brandur
where we keep our precious breeding mares
Glod and Hrund and numerous Isar offspring. Hrund and Glod looked
pregnant and beautiful-best friends! We expect foals after Vilmundur fra
Feti (Hrund) and
Krakur fra Blesastadum (Glod) this spring. They have also started
building a big riding hall -that will improve their starting and
training young horses and become
more independant of the weather.

Brandur with Vaka fra Asi after Isar, age 3
My Hrund fra Arbć pregnant with Vilmundur fra Feti
Next day, Sunday, we went to Blesastadir and looked at some very nice
offspring of among others Krakur. He looks great and
seems like a strong breeder with many very good offspring. We also
visited our beautiful young filly Brana-long legged and with great
movements. Of coarse we
are not objective but this little lady after Keilir and the Odur
daugther Hröst do look very promising.

Krakur fra Blesstadum, The stallion og choice for both Hrund and Glod
Rune with newborn foal at Blesastadir
In the afternoon we went to Elli and Vidja to take a look at my two
young mares in training; Sara fra Saudakroki (that I own together with
Hannes Sigurdjonsson)
and Gnipa fra Holum. Both looked good, with impressive tölt and pace.
Gnipa still a little fat (unbelievable because she is in such hard
training) and we decided to
breed her to Stali and show her in August -to give her some more time.
Sara will be shown in June and then most likely kept in further training
towards Landsmot
next year. She is after Hrodur and Sunna fra Saudakroki and showed great
gaits already after so little training. My Swedish breeding friends
returned home the next
day while I spent another three days looking at horses.
May1 together with Hannes and we visited Gunnar ans the Odur daugther
Selma fra Saudakroki. She is young but seems like a very beautiful and
talented Odur daugther.
The plan is to train her during the summer and have Siggi Matt show her
in august -if she is ready.

Hannes and Gunnar with Selma
We then spent half a day by Elli and Vidja following their training of a
lot of really great (and famous ) horses-both stallions and mares. In
the late afternoon we went to
Kjartanstadir to look at some Terna offspring, and one Odur daugther in
particular. Very intersting visit and good horses. May 2 Hannes and I
spent the morning together
and then I went up south again alone, visiting Fet-spent the first half
of the day with Brynjar.Very interesting indeed and
the mare that I share with him Alaborg fra Feti looked just great! and
here foals likewise-a very special mare that I expect a lot from. I am
expecting the foal after Frakki
fra Feti this spring. I then visited Siggi and Lisbeth at Holtsmula;
looked at their huge and amazing new facilities
(riding hall 70 m long...) and my Orri daugther there-the silver dapple
Platina fra Holtsmula. She will be started by Elli in sept/oct this
year. lasdt visit was to Nedra Seli
where I have my other Orri daugther. I looked at their breeding
mares, offspring and discussed breeding strategy-very rewarding. Thula
will be started by Elli together
with Platina-they are both three yrs old. The evening was spent with
Hannes and Inga (and their 1 yrs old Hekla); they invited me to a
delicious dinner and some more
"horsetalk". May 3'th I returned home (to Norway) in the afternoon after
some shopping. All in all a very rewarding visit to Iceland and now back
to students and work.

Siggi Matt in June this year, if she is ready...

09.04.07. Gnipa and Sara in training by Elli-looks better ,but still a
bit to fat. They develop according to plan.

Gnipa April 07 , she looks much better now!

23.03.07. New horse, the three year old Orri
daugther
Ţula fra Neđra-Seli,
blup 118. She is started but not yet ridden and
out of the beautiful silver dapple 1. prize mare
Ţruma fra Sćlukoti. Thanks to Magnus and Svanhildur for letting me buy
her.
She will be put into training together with my silver dapple Orri
offspring Platina in October this year.

19.03.07. Greetings from Iceland and Kristin with picture of our Vaka
and Bida (fux).

15.03.07 Siggi riding Selma for the first time -started only 2 months
ago. Natural talent!

15.03.07 Selma arrived Reykjavik yesterday and behaved like a
lady, calm and easy to handle. Both Hannes and Siggi Matt
went for a ride and thought she had potential! She was then brought to
Gunnar (Augustsson) for further training.

(Odur)
riding talent and we expect a lot from her. Photos: Hannes
08.03.07 NEW HORSE;
IS2003257001 - Selma fra Sauđárkróki, Odur daugther and full
sister of the very talented
young 1. pr stallion Brjánn fra
Sauđárkróki. I have been looking for the right Odur offspring (with a
good character)
for my breeding for a long time. With good help from Eline, Jon and
Hannes I have found her. I will share her with my
breeding partner Hannes, that wanted to buy in on her. Thanks also to
Gudmundur for letting us buy and develop this
beautiful and talented young mare.A picture of her comes shortly.
Meanwhile a picture of her full brother Brjann

27.02.07 Winter greetings from Vakning, Sandra and Raggi at Akureayri.
After some dental work and rest she will be
put into training
again to perpare for the competition season this coming spring.
Photo: Sandra Marin

15.02.07 Vakning had a visit from the dentist yesterday. Perhaps tooth
problems was the reason for her eating so slowly and not gaining weight
-and stiffening up when one tries to ride her in form?... She turned out
to have had exceptional long and uneven front teeth compared to the
molars
and the horse dentist; Gunnar Örn
Ísleifsson, did a great job on her teeth-hopefully that will help for
both eating and riding! Photo: Sandra Marin

02.02.07 Vakning in training at Akureri by Sandra og Raggi, preparing
for coming competitions in the 07 season. She has extreme pace
talents (9), but needs to work on her form under rider and thus also
strengten her tölt. Big thanks to both Sandra and Raggi for all their
dedication and god work. Apart from being a very talented competition
horse Vakning has a strong pedigree and 1 prize and will be
bred after Landsmot 2008

30.01.07 Some pictures of my stallion prospects playing at Herresta
where they are well taken care of by Märtha and Magnus

29.01.07 Gnipa (fra Holum) and Sara (fra saudakroki) are in training by
Erlingur and Vidja. Gnipas is well built and talented but her trot is
still weak.
Her tölt and pace are coming along nicely.A lot of Kolfinnur in
Gnipa-high action and big steps.Sara is only four yrs, but seems to have
particularely
talent for tölt, but according to Erlingur and Vidja also have pace-her
mother being the fourgaited Honoury award winning mare Sunna fra
Saudakroki but
her father Hrodur "found" his pace during the Landsmot events...

Sara fra Saudakroki
Gnipa fra Holum
28.01.07 Fasta is shoed again and will be ridden at Hofi through
the winter and spring since she is not pregnant. She will be taken to
the stallion:
Sćr fra Bakkeroti early in May.

22.01.07 Some pictures taken by Rune Ibert of my two stallion prospects
in Sweden.

and 1 prize Atli daughter Dama fra Örvik; dirty and in

Hugur, son of the four gaited 1 prize stallion Freyr fra Holtsmula after
legendary Orri and the beautiful 1 prize mare Krafla fra Tornen
(Second in WC); also tall and well raised with lots of mane and tale. He
will be started in October together with Ljomi.Photo Rune Ibert
08-01.07
Gnípa fra Hólum
is now in training at Langholt by Erlingur (Erlingsson) and I spoke to
him on the phone today and Hannes
( Sigurjonsson) visited him this
week-end and delivered
our other mare Sara fra Saudakroki. Erlingur's said he liked Gnipa, she
is much like her mother
(the Kolfinnur daugther and Landsmot winner
Ţula fra Hólum), with good willingness and big
roomy steps. Good tölt, a lot of pace and needs
to work on her trot- so
she seems to have inherited some of the great riding qualities of her
anchestors. He has not tried Sara yet, but Hannes
is optimistic about her as well. At least Sara has a great mane and
tale.... (Sara is fux to the right below....)

02.01.07
Gnípa fra Hólum
is going south to Erlingur for training today and subsequently
presentation at breeding show (s) early this spring. She will stay by
Erlingur until the end of June;
depending on the result and talent she will be put into breeding already
this summer. Thanks to Eline at Hofi who has put down a lot of work to
bring her into shape before the more intensive
ahead. Gnipa has a very strong pedigree, combining Orri and Kolfinnur-so
it will be very exciting to see how this combination works following
Gnipa.

20.12.06 New horse Vakning fra Asi, a 1
prize mare with 9 for pace. She is daugther of h award winning Vaka fra
Asi (9.5 for pace) and
h award winning Galsi fra Sauđárkróki (9.8 for pace).
Vakning. Sandra Marin found Vakning and will
train and compete with her until Landsmot 2008. She will then be put
into breeding.

14.11.06 Some pictures from a short visit to Sweden this week-end to
check on my horses there. Visa is by Birgitta and Rune at Sudsberg and
is pretty as ever and very well taken care of.
Ljomi and Hugur is at Herresta, a hours drive away and
Marie-Louise and Magnus give them the very best upbringing. Hugur just
arrived from Denmark and has adjusted quickly, finding new
play mates among the group of 5-10 sstallions at Herresta, among them
the fux Isarson Balthasar. They are all doing great under excellent
conditions (large filds, stoney hills, forest and plenty of space and
shelter).
Sandra Marin, taking some additional education in Stockholm, joined us
and it was very nice to meet her as well. We also stopped by Vignir and
Johanna and visited Isar and Fengur (Annas Isarsson).
Birgitta and Anna had prepared a delicious dinner for the evening at
Herresta for all of us. The main subject for our conversation was guess
what: horses....It was intersting to learn more about
how Vignir and Johanna start and train their horses-very
diligently-success is always a lot of hard work! Thanks for an
interesting week-end and great hospitality. Per
