SE2004103535 - Ljómi fra Sundsberg
Ljomi is a handsome and well developed palomino stallion from Sundsberg. He is now two and a half years old and is well taken care of by Marie Louise Persson at Herresta Säteri in Sweden. There he plays with 10-15 other young stallions with a lot of space and otherwise excellent conditions. Ljomi is well built, strong and active. He is willing, with great movements including all five gaits, but at the same time easy to handle. The nice character comes from both his father and three times world champion Askur fra Hĺkansgĺrden and his mother and 1 prize winning mare Dama fra Örvik. Ljomi will be started in October next year (2007) by Vignir Jónasson, a well known WC winning rider, trainer and breeder originally from Iceland, now living in Sweden (close to Marie Louise). Vignir will start and subsequently present both my stallions (Ljomi and Hugur fra Oren) and they will both stay at Herresta in between training periods. Ljomi has inherited the palomino gene from his father Askur whose mother is the beautiful palomino mare Ljósbrá fra Ásgeirsbrekku. Ljósbrá is directly descending from two of Iceland's most famous breeding mares; Hrund fra Keldudal (her first five offspring receiving 1. pr.) and Nös fra Stokkhólma (eight 1. pr. offsprings !) and the most influential stallion Hrafn fra Holtsmúla. Hravn is from Skagafjörđur in the north of Iceland. Many hold him as the best of all modern stallions with great riding qualities, decided willingness with a great genetic stability, even though there is no in-breeding in his pedigree. Askur’s father Kveikur fra Miđsitju is another honours award winning stallion. Kveikur, black and handsome like Hravn, is out of the famous breeding mare Perla fra Reykjum and brother to Krafla fra Sauđárkróki, both honours award winning and famous breeding mares. Perla is the mother of both Kveikur and Krafla, the latter is the dam of the two famous and honours award winning stallions Kraflar and Keilir and the great mares Katla and Samba and is one of the most influential breeding mares on Iceland. Thus, it is for good reason Askur became the first stallion born outside Iceland (mother import) to top the overall breeding list and has become three time world champion. His close family include more than ten 1. prize winning horses including a number of honours award winning horses; Kveikur fra Miđsitju, Gustur fra Sauđárkróki, Sörli fra Sauđárkróki, Fluga fra Sauđárkróki, Síđa fra Sauđárkróki and Hrafn fra Holtsmúla. In addition to Krafla and Perla, Síđa fra Sauđárkróki should also be briefly mentioned. She was said to be the best breeding mare ever to be judged on Iceland and laid the foundation for Svein Guđmundsson’s breeding at Sauđárkróki giving birth to famous and influential horses like Hravnhinna, Sörli, Hravnkatla, Hravnhetta and Hervör among others. Ljomi’s mother Dama fra Örvik is daughter of the honours award winning stallion Atli fra Syđra-Skörđugili, son of the famous Hrafn fra Holtsmúla and with Blesi fra Skáney (total 8.41) further back in the pedigree. Dama’s mother is out of the 2.prize winning mare Sunna fra Vestmannaeyjum with the 1. prize winning stallion Héđinn Vatnagörđum, son of the breeding legend Hörđur fra Kolkuósi. Here the Sauđárkróki and Kolkuósi lines are mixed with Hrafn fra Holtsmúla that unites both Svađastađir and Hornafjörđur blood lines. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
